How to play
BuyMeBlocks is a set of walls you paint one block at a time, together with everyone else. Your first block is free. Here is how each place works.
The Wall
The Wall is one square of 1,000 × 1,000 pixels, made of blocks 10 pixels across. Upload an image, choose where it goes and how many blocks it covers, and it appears on the wall for everyone to see.
Every block stays open: anyone can paint over your art by placing theirs on top. A new placement is protected for its first 24 hours, and you can add more protection, or a shield, to keep it longer.
Stacks shows the wall in 3D, with every layer piled up where art was painted over. Replay plays back the wall’s whole history, from the first block.
The World
The World is a map of the whole Earth divided into blocks about 150 meters across. Search for a place by name, by latitude and longitude or by geohash, or jump to where you are.
Put your art on your street, your campus or a mountaintop. It works like The Wall: art can be painted over, and it keeps its spot on the map until someone covers it.
Head to Head
Head to Head boards put two sides against each other: two teams before a game, Pepsi against Coke, cats against dogs. Pick a side and you get a free block on that board.
Every block on the board belongs to one side. Choose one of the other side’s blocks and claim it: it flips to your side’s picture and the score moves. Whoever holds the most of the board when it locks wins.
Boards start as 8 × 8 big blocks. When a block is won back by the side it started with, it splits into four smaller blocks: a home-field advantage that makes every corner worth fighting for.
Game boards open a week before kickoff and lock when the game ends; others never lock. Share a board: when someone new joins from your link and claims a block, you earn a Free Block to use on any board.
On political boards everyone plays anonymously: players appear only as their side.
Credits
Placing art and claiming blocks uses credits. Your first block is free. After that, credits come in bundles on the Credits page, with bonus credits on the bigger ones.
Fair play
Every image is checked before it goes up, and anything that breaks the rules comes down. If you see something that shouldn’t be there, report it.
